The following terms and definitions are defined with respect to their use and with respect to latest Modeling and model agencies. All the definitions listed here are written by me, unless other credit is specified. Not everyone will agree with my definitions.

  • Paduasoy

  • Pantaloons

    wide breeches worn particularly in England during the reign of Charles II; close-fitting trousers usually having straps transitory under the instep and worn specially in the 19th century; loose-fitting regularly shorter than ankle-length trousers

  • Pantdress

    a dress having a alienated skirt

  • Panties

    It is a woman's or child's undergarment covering the lower trunk with a closed crotch.

  • Pantsuit

    a woman's ensemble consisting typically of a long jacket and tailored pants of the same material

  • Panty waist

    generallly a child's two-piece undergarment that buttoned jointly at the waist

  • Petite

    This refers to a model who is physically smaller than the range for a "typical" model, especially a typical runway model.

  • Photographer Release

    A contract signed by the photographer giving permission to the model to use the photographs taken during a particular sitting.

  • Plus

    This refers to a model who is physically larger than the range for a "typical" model.

  • Portfolio

    Also called a Book or Model's Book. A notebook conaining a collection of a model's best photographs (usually size 8"x10") and tear sheets demonstrating their abilities in front of the camera. Models can usually purchase good portfolios stamped with their agency's name and logo directly from the agency, but plain black portfolios work fine, too.

  • Print

    This term has varying meanings. It can be used to distinguish between online (Internet) and offline (paper) publications. It is also sometimes used as a synonym for Fashion, or for Commercial. See those entries for more information.

  • Prints For Time

    An agreement between the model and photographer to whereby they work for each other on a mutually beneficial basis, and no money changes hands. The photographer provides a selection of prints from the shoot in recognition of the model's time commitment.
