Tags: Bridal Dresses, Carine Krawiec, Carine's Bridal, Salon Does your brand need a celebrity?March 3rd, 2012I would say yes the celebrities do help a brand. It has various add-on’s to have a celebrity linked with a brand. In fact being more specific Bollywood and cricket the 2 biggest things in India, occupy most of the ad slots. The rest is filled by the models and some theme based ads. Brands have been leveraging celebrity appeal for a long time. Across categories, whether in products or services, more and more brands are banking on the mass appeal of celebrities. As soon as a new face ascends the popularity charts, advertisers queue up to have it splashed all over. Witness the spectacular rise of Sania Mirza and Irfan Pathan in endorsements in a matter of a few months. The accruement of celebrity endorsements can be justified by the following advantages that are bestowed on the overall brand: • Establishment of Credibility: Approval of a brand by a star fosters a sense of trust for that brand among the target audience- this is especially true in case of new products. • We had the Shah Rukh-Santro campaign. At launch, Shah Rukh Khan endorsed Santro and this ensured that brand awareness was created in a market, which did not even know the brand. • Ensured Attention: Celebrities ensure attention of the target group by breaking the clutter of advertisements and making the ad and the brand more noticeable. • PR coverage : is another reason for using celebrities. Managers perceive celebrities as topical, which create high PR coverage. A good example of integrated celebrity campaigns is one of the World’s leading pop groups, the Spice Girls, who have not only appeared in advertisements for Pepsi, but also in product launching and PR events. Indeed, celebrity-company marriages are covered by most media from television to newspapers (e.g. The Spice Girls and Pepsi) • Higher degree of recall: People tend to commensurate the personalities of the celebrity with the brand thereby increasing the recall value. Golf champion Tiger Woods has endorsed American Express, Rolex, and Nike. Actress Catherine Zeta-Jones is used by T-Mobile and Elizabeth Arden. 007 Pierce Brosnan promotes Omega, BMW, and Noreico. • Associative Benefit: A celebrity’s preference for a brand gives out a persuasive message – because the celebrity is benefiting from the brand, the consumer will also benefit. • Mitigating a tarnished image: Cadbury India wanted to restore the consumer’s confidence in its chocolate brands following the high-pitch worms controversy; so the company appointed Amitabh Bachan for the job. Last year, when the even more controversial pesticide issue shook up Coca-Cola and PepsiCo and resulted in much negative press, both soft drink majors put out high-profile damage control ad films featuring their best and most expensive celebrities. While Aamir Khan led the Coke fightback as an ingenious and fastidious Bengali who finally gets convinced of the product’s `purity,’ PepsiCo brought Shah Rukh Khan and Sachin Tendulkar together once again in a television commercial which drew references to the `safety’ of the product indirectly. • Psychographic Connect: Celebrities are loved and adored by their fans and advertisers use stars to capitalize on these feelings to sway the fans towards their brand. • Demographic Connect: Different stars appeal differently to various demographic segments (age, gender, class, geography etc). • Mass Appeal: Some stars have a universal appeal and therefore prove to be a good bet to generate interest among the masses. • Rejuvenating a stagnant brand: With the objective of infusing fresh life into the stagnant chyawanprash category and staving off competition from various brands, Dabur India roped in Bachan for an estimated Rs 8 crore. This trend has also helped in the growth of fashion consciousness among the crowd. With the increas in these trend and fashion awareness we see many increments and how more and more people are opting for branded products and they portray a clear picture of how much they in love with designer wear. As its unique and one of a kind, with very rare repeats. It highlights your personality. Besides, rapidly growing popularity of boutiques selling designer and local wear showcasing finished and ready-to-stitch garments and trendy dress material is another growth driver for designer wear industry. Then the next contributor for blast of designer industry is the film industry which is all about branded cloths and designer wear being exhibition by the individuals every day, and followers love to follow the trend. “Currently India’s share in the global designer wear industry is a minimal 0.32 per cent but is likely to reach about 1.7 per cent by 2020,” As we see a huge potential the ASSOCHAM plans and advices the fashion design institutes to concentrate on the designers who will contribute and work for making India the fashion capital of the world. According to a recent ASSOCHAM survey nearly 35 per cent of male and over half of female shoppers in urban India prefer shopping at retail outlets which are one-stop shopping destination as one can find almost all the leading local and international brands under one roof. Besides, nearly 40 per cent of working couples prefer buying designer wear for their kids. But before the designers move ahead , they tend to step back because of a major problem they face of plagiarism, as designs get copied and thus more and more fashion designers have started seeking copyright protection and are getting their designs registered.

Posted in Uncategorized | No Comments » What to wear? Is this question troubling you….January 11th, 2012You need to rush for a party; you have no clue what to wear. Infact most of us don’t know the difference and how they should dress depending upon the occasion. You cannot wear the same attire for an office party what you wear for a club. Check out one, two, three below… One -Cocktail party: should be all about glamour, shimmer, sparkle all around. You have a bling bling sequence dress; it’s time to wear it now. Even leather will do well, for this party. Club with a plain clutch bag and heels in contrast colours. Two -House party: these parties are tricky, very tough to decide whether to dress up or go casual….so be safe dress up with something comfortable, bling it with shoes or bag. Flats will be a better option here. Dress up simple and stylish. The designer Shantanu and Nikhil has a lot in his collection for such parties. Three -Office party: I would advice to be dressed up with smart formals. Bold colour dresses with belts and heels or may be high waist trousers with a cute top. Satin fabric dresses do quite well here. Don’t overdo with accessories. Studs will be enough with a clutch bag. Rahul Khanna We may not have been talking about Rahul Khanna this year because of his movies but we where certainly talking about him because of his wardrobe. Rahul Khanna is certainly one actor men should look to for some fashionable influence, as Rahul knows how to have fun with his wardrobe. While most Bollywood actors opt for the same old black suits Rahul mixes it up by adding a spot of colour to his wardrobe, be it a white suit or blue blazer. Rahul has become a regular on our hot list for fashion and was the first male actor to gain our Star Stylist title. 4. Dia Mirza 2011 saw Dia Mirza launch her first film, Love Breakups Zindigi, under her production house, Born Free Entertainment, along with her boyfriend Sahil Sangha and actor Zayed Khan. This is also the year that we started noticing Dia Mirza even more because of her fabulous wardrobe both onscreen and off screen. What has she been upto. 3. Imran Khan This year has been a great year for Imran Khan not only because of the success of movies such as Delhi Belly and Mere Brother Ki Dulhan but also because once again he has made it onto our most fashionable Bollywood stars list. Imran is another actor that stayed away from the traditional black suit this year by opting for other colours such as grey. Imran brought his fun and youthful style to his outfits once again this year be it in a grey suit or a casual quirky t-shirt. Imran is certainly one Khan we will be keeping an eye on in 2012 to see if he can raise the fashion stakes once again. 2. Priyanka Chopra Priyanka Chopra should be beaming by the end of this year. Not only has she bagged herself a record deal, and had the release of the much-awaited film Don 2, but she was also named India’s Best Dressed by People magazine. We can’t say we disagree with People magazine as Priyanka Chopra has shown that she knows how to dress whether it is in Indian attire or western clothing. It is her choice of Indian attire this year, be it on the catwalk or at the Toronto IIFA awards that got us talking. However one or two fashion mistakes this year cost her the number one spot on our elite list. Priyanka Chopra is one star to keep an eye on in 2012 as if she raises her game she may be able to make it to our number one spot. 1. Sonam Kapoor Sonam Kapoor has proved that once again she knows her fashion and is the ultimate Bollywood fashionista. 2011 has been a great year for Sonam, when it comes to fashion. Off screen the actress made her debut on the Cannes red carpet and showed the world that she knows how to dress to impress by opting for a memorable Jean Paul Gaultier gown and a striking Masaba Gupta sari. Sonam didn’t stop there as she was also spotted amongst International stars such as Freida Pinto when she attended the Chanel Paris-Bombay Pre-Fall 2012 show in Paris this month. Sonam Kapoor has also become a regular on our Star Stylista list gaining the title more than once this year by opting for fun outfits. Sonam always raises the fashion stakes by daring to be different and staying away from the cliché outfits that many actresses are spotted in.
