Three decades ago, Faiza Samee, the driving force behind her label, attempted to curate heirlooms only to discover, much to her dismay, that many of the stitches, methods and even raw materials had already been lost. Thus, began her journey that has made this label one of the foremost centres of expertise for obscure hand embroidery anywhere in the world.Creating contemporary ensembles steeped in cultural tradition has been a driving passion for Faiza. The label strives to systematically reintroduce lost skills in its workshops and disseminate them to a newer generation; simultaneously developing aesthetic knowledge through extensive research, and creating relevant, modern pieces that celebrate traditional artistry, while exploring a exciting colour palette. |
