  It doesn’t take long to realize why Frans Lanting is regarded as one of the greatest and most unusual wildlife photographers of all times. His best photographs don’t stand out for their emphasis on the behavioral qualities and survival skills of the animals, but for something more dramatic, endearing and even humorous in the subjects themselves. The picture of the Polar bears caught in a moment when they seem to be ball dancing sums up the sort of angle he tries to capture. Frans has flair with the camera, and his idea is not to educate you about animals, but the fact that even in the wild there are moments that would appear remarkably raw or remarkably cultured to us.
