Begins Tokyo Collection Week
The Tokyo Collection Week began Tuesday at the Tokyo Midtown business complex, showcasing the newest designs by some 40 Japanese brands for the 2010-2011 autumn and winter seasons.
The catwalk displays, the centerpiece of the 10th Japan Fashion Week in Tokyo, started with a show by Entoptic, a brand formed by Wataru Matsumoto and Kenta Kakinuma.
The brand, which contributed in the Tokyo collection for the first time, displayed monotone items with an urban style, including a jacket with sleeves made of knit material.
The Tokyo Collection Week will run for four days, with world-famous Japanese model Ai Tominaga showing as an official supporter for the event, the organizer Japan Fashion Week Organization said.
During the week, a charity event will be held, with admired photographers taking photos of actresses in the latest fashions, as well as T-shirts made by Tokyo brands.
The participating actresses comprise Erika Sawajiri, Ryoko Hirosue and Meisa Kuroki. Their photos and T-shirts will be sold afterward.
