Victoria Beckham loves giving fashion suggestion

July 20th, 2010

As a Spice Girl in the mid-1990s, Victoria Beckham’s Union Jack flag dress was her most tremendous style statement. As a designer, Beckham would most likely abhor the kitschy dress. She chooses to design elegant silhouettes that have been worn by numerous celebrities.

Ex-bandmate Emma Bunton (Baby Spice) says Beckham loves to present fashion advice to her friends.

She told contactmusic.com, “Victoria’s dresses forever make you feel so stylish. I am so lucky to have a great friend who designs magnificent outfits! She is an astonishing designer.”

Emma Bunton
wore a petite screen-printed dress designed by Beckham to the London premiere of Sex and the City 2.

“It is so complicated to go from music and do something else and there is real pressure, but it’s worked out so brilliantly for her,” she said. “She has given me advice before and told me to remain it classic.”

Beckham, who started designing jeans in 2004 for Rock and Republic, commenced herself as a designer at New York Fashion Week in 2008. Since then, her decisively much-admired designs have been sported by an impressive slew of A-listers, as well as actors Courteney Cox, Jennifer Hudson, Drew Barrymore, Blake Lively and Cameron Diaz and ex-supermodel Elle MacPherson.

Models in bloom for the return of Australia’s subsequent Top Model

July 19th, 2010

Sarah’s hair is longer, there currently 16 feisty finalists and Alex Perry’s forehead still doesn’t move, this can only mean one thing: Fox8’s maximum rating program Australia’s Next Top Model is back.

This year, there are currently 16 contestants ready to pose, walk and bitch their way to the top. Photographer Jez Smith is now recurring to the judging line-up and new model mentor Josh Flinn has replaced Jonathan Pease.

“It’s an entire different show,” says the resident sharp-tongued but stunning judge Charlotte Dawson. “It has an extremely sexy style, and visually it has been shot wonderfully. And of course there is unrivalled glamour and abundance of bitching and backstabbing.”

The first episode sees the 16 girls being chucked into the deep end by having to walk in a show at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week – fresh off the bus! You can be guaranteed though, of the similar bitchy banter between the feisty judges.

Going for Gold: Trina Turk reveals collection at Miami Beach swim fashion week

July 16th, 2010

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. — Designer Trina Turk is going for gold with her latest swimwear collection.

The metallic shine was all above the runway at Turk’s Thursday night show, which kicked off the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim 2011.

“It was just that we were feeling gold, and also in our swimwear we’ve been doing a lot of kind of complicated hardware. And it emerges like our customers tend to prefer gold over silver … against the tan,” Turk said after the show.

She used gold hardware to decorate her bikinis and one-pieces. A model wore a black maillot with gold hardware placed at the dipping neckline. There was also a fuchsia bandeau bathing suit top with gold hardware paired with a short multicolored skirt, accessorized with a chunky gold cuff bracelet and ring. Gold hardware also ornamented a white bikini.

“Color is something that is extremely important to our brand. It’s always, perpetually about color,” she said. “That’s my favorite thing, is working on the color mixtures for the textiles that we use.”

The fashion shows run throughout Monday night.
