Glam party creates fashion statement

Three rooms at the W Boston were done up to look similar to Barcelona, New York, and Hollywood for last night’s Global Glam, a showcase of spring and summer fashions that will be sold at the hotel this season.

Channel 5’s Bianca de la Garza hosted the party in the Barcelona room, while radio host Mel Robbins watched more NYC, and Boldfacers gal Lisa Pierpont presided over Hollywood.

The fashion party integrated themed drinks in each of the rooms and fashion models strutting around to show off the new designs.

The guest list for the night included style queen Marilyn Riseman, and jewelry-making siblings Danielle and Jodie Snyder, whose accessories were exposed in the W’s “Barcelona“.

The Snyders’ designs have been gamed by Katy Perry, Natalie Portman, and “Gossip Girl” star Blake Lively.

Music and fashion fill Symphony Hall for an memorable evening

On April 13th and 15th Boston’s Symphony Hall played host to a distinctive fashion contest entitled Project Tchaikovsky. This Project Runway-style contest featured creations from nine unique student designers, each enthused by various selections from the musical great.

At the start of the evening, attendees were able to examine the floor of Symphony Hall as elaborately constructed designs from the contestants strolled through. The event’s “finale” occurred on the 15th where guests were invited post-symphony to like a runway fashion show of the competing designers where the winner of the Project Tchaikovsky challenge would be revealed.

The winner would be affirmed after a panel of five judges met with each of the evening’s designers and carefully reviewed their creations.

While showing off their designs to the judges, designers gave a brief background of which musical selections enthused and played into the creation of their gown.

Becomes Zandra Rhodes University Chancellor, Slams Celebrity ‘Designers’

Zandra Rhodes is going back to school, Last week the pink-haired fashion designer was installed as chancellor of Britain’s the University for the Creative Arts, created through the merger of the Surrey Institute of Art & Design, University College, and the Kent Institute of Art & Design.

At her London inauguration ceremony (likely the first in history to include a runway show), Rhodes eschewed the usual black cap and gown for a striking ensemble of her own design.

I wanted to make something that had the wow factor but remained in keeping with the sense of the occasion, she said of her bedazzled fuschia robe and matching hat.

I expect the distinctive color scheme and intricately designed embroidery puts my own mark on what is usually a subdued, black garment.
