New Zealand Fashion Festival to be held in the year 2010 March

Auckland will get its very own edition of the successful Melbourne Fashion festival in March.

The event will focus on the public rather than the fashion industry, and will have collection shows each day in the festival, group shows each evening, and free events around the city.

Fashion Festival organizers expect the festival will create a buzz around New Zealand’s fashion industry by motivating sales and giving the local fashion industry more publicity.

The show will encourage in-season collections and will set the bar for what can be expected in years to come.

In 2010, Fashion Festival will launch with a fashion show and party at a central city venue on March 16, followed by a designer garage sale.

Collaboration with Melbourne Fashion Festival has been confirmed and the Auckland event has been timed so it does not collide with the Australian event.

Nina Ricci from catwalk to high street

There’s something extremely glamorous and impressive about a burst of rich ruby red at Christmas. Nothing in your attire will make you feel more festive than a hit of this most decorative color. If you’re lucky enough to have an excuse to don a full-length gown over the coming weeks, embrace it. Whether its swishes of tulle, enveloping satin or gem-encrusted, make sure it’s a showstopper.

This Olivier Theyskens creation for Nina Ricci is blatantly sumptuous. A dropping waterfall of silk makes up the skirt while a structured jacket and satin lace-up platforms give it a bang-up-to-date edge. Each individual element is enough to get you giddy with festive fever, but for full impact, pile it on!
