Exclusive: Designer Tracy Reese discussion About Being a Michelle Obama Favorite

Michelle Obama has been speckled in an assortment of amazing fashion designer Tracy Reese dresses recently, so when I caught up with the designer at a party to celebrate the opening of Target’s first Manhattan store, I had just one question for her: What is it like to be a first lady favorite?

“It feels so good,” said Reese as she laughed and then went on to clarify how she met Obama for the first time at a fundraiser just two and a half years ago. “She gave me a large hug and she was like, ‘I love your things and I admire your work so much!'”

In nature, the designer was flattered–to say the least. “I was, shell-shocked,” she says, “because I didn’t even know that she knew who I was, and why she would?”

She intensely recalls what Obama said next: “‘I’d love to be wearing your clothes.'” To which, Reese (smartly) replied, “I would love that; it would be such an honor.”

While almost anything from the feminine chic label would seem amazing on the first lady, a lot of thought is given to what is sent to the White House for contemplation.

“I don’t think she wants to be fussing with her clothes all day,” says Reese on the topic of Obama’s sartorial necessities. “I wouldn’t want to send her anything that didn’t work for each occasion.”

Victoria Beckham loves giving fashion suggestion

As a Spice Girl in the mid-1990s, Victoria Beckham’s Union Jack flag dress was her most tremendous style statement. As a designer, Beckham would most likely abhor the kitschy dress. She chooses to design elegant silhouettes that have been worn by numerous celebrities.

Ex-bandmate Emma Bunton (Baby Spice) says Beckham loves to present fashion advice to her friends.

She told contactmusic.com, “Victoria’s dresses forever make you feel so stylish. I am so lucky to have a great friend who designs magnificent outfits! She is an astonishing designer.”

Emma Bunton
wore a petite screen-printed dress designed by Beckham to the London premiere of Sex and the City 2.

“It is so complicated to go from music and do something else and there is real pressure, but it’s worked out so brilliantly for her,” she said. “She has given me advice before and told me to remain it classic.”

Beckham, who started designing jeans in 2004 for Rock and Republic, commenced herself as a designer at New York Fashion Week in 2008. Since then, her decisively much-admired designs have been sported by an impressive slew of A-listers, as well as actors Courteney Cox, Jennifer Hudson, Drew Barrymore, Blake Lively and Cameron Diaz and ex-supermodel Elle MacPherson.
