‘Normal’ women model for latest fashion campaign

Street style photographers and the blogs and books they build have entirely changed how we look at fashion but also how fashion looks.

Campaigns are being enthused by what people are wearing on the street and in their real lives, rather than the other way.

LK Bennett has just commenced their A/W campaign featuring four ‘normal’ women modeling the collection. Sure, they’re very beautiful ‘normal’ women but I love that big brands on the high street are at last reacting to what their customers want.

It makes sense for a store like LK Bennett that is aimed at a somewhat older audience to ditch the skinny, 15-year-old models and show their clothes on women that the customer can relate to.

BLily Cole at London Gatwick Fashion Week

London Gatwick Fashion Week held its finale today, where two aspiring models met Lily Cole and won a contract from Storm Model Management.

The event was staged by Brando, increasing money for Great Ormond Street Hospital, and Event has exclusive pictures.

The show was the culmination of a campaign that had been appearing for one male and one female model.

Visitors to the airport’s North Terminal were treated to a catwalk show, and Brando upright a grooming area in which passengers could receive make-up hints and tips.

First looks: Madonna’s Material Girl collection

She bagged Taylor Momsen as her model and a spot in Macy’s so it was scarcely surprising that people were queuing around the block yesterday to get their hands on Madonna’s new clothing range.

The pop icon that has also set the fashion world alight with her stage outfits over the years has ventured into the designing world with her daughter Lourdes and started the Material Girl collection aimed at 15-25 year olds.

Yesterday’s launch saw girls eager to get their hands on the collection, presented with cupcakes by models and greeted by Madonna look-a-likes. They were also treated to a mini recital by Taylor Momsen, although Madge and her teenage motivation didn’t show.

And the range of clothing which comprises fishnet tights, low cut mini dresses, miniskirts, lace dresses, 80s ra-ra skirts and sequined hot pants, has already been criticized by children’s groups who have said the collection is “less than wholesome” in view of the teen age target.

Considering the range is targeted up to 25 years old we’re not so sure there’s a require to be concerned, after all the styles are like to what’s out there at the moment. However, we thought we’d give you the possibility to have your say.
